False Sense of Security?

It was 70 degrees in the city yesterday. Beautiful, BEAUTIFUL weather. The first Really nice taste of spring that we've had will be short lived though. It's forecast to be slightly cooler today, but rain/sleet/snow tonight and tomorrow. Back to the arctic tundra for a couple of days. It was a teaser, but all of NYC now has a taste of the spring fever.

Running around the city yesterday without coats or scarves or wraps of any kind was nice. (He says as he eyeballs the heavy winter coat he'll be wearing again tomorrow). Just a teaser, but spring IS only a mere couple of days away...

So much going on here right now. I worked like a fiend last week; pulling doubles on 5 of the 6 days of my work week, which left me a complete idiot (yes, I said it) by the time I hit Sunday afternoon. It was a hectic week at work for us boys to boot; several people out and lots of changing of the guards. Fortunately, most of it was planned and not last minute. I have to say that work has been almost pleasant the last couple of weeks. We've gone through some cast changes in the last few months and we have a pretty decent group now. The dressing room has a calmer feel to it now, the performers who liked to stir up trouble and drama are elsewhere, and we have a higher ratio of adults to children now. It's so much easier when you have people who 'get it' as opposed to performers who simply think they are entitled or are just unaware. Plus, a certain someone who usually tends to get my blood up, has been on a blissfully Long 3 week vacation, and the attitudes and environment have completely changed without him being around. The lady who is covering for him has always been a favorite of mine, and proves that things can be handled in a professional way without all of the senseless and basically irritating babble, lording about, and backstabbing. (showbusiness is Glamerous, remember). AND (WOOT WOOT) the end of this month will see the long awaited, highly anticipated return of my movie-making monkey to the broadway stage; and a 'smell you later' to the long-term replacement that I've barely managed to stomach for the last 6 months. Those of you old enough to remember Charlie Brown cartoons may recall a character called 'Pig-Pen,' you know the one who walked around everywhere in a dustcloud. It fits; perfectly. Hopefully I've served enough Penance. It has NOT been 'good times' dealing with Pig-Pen 6 days a week for the last 6 months. I am looking forward to April, and returning to my 'true' show rhythm/routine.

In other mind-blowing news: I've started dating again. Yes, really. It boggles my mind; real honest Dating. It's going well. I'm getting out of the house (that in itself is a positive) and enjoying the time. Evidently it's going well, I got a call back and have a second date later this week. If nothing else I'm going to have another good friend out of the experience, and one who is a very positive influence. Plus I'm enjoying the affirmation that there are decent, honest, and kind people out there. And he's an adult... (thank you, thank you, thank you)

Spring Fever?!~

Shouting out a special Thanks and "you rock!" to Devon. I've been on edge a lot this year and you always make me feel better, even when your washing machine is floating down the street after your old car. Just want you to know how much I appreciate and value your friendship and insight. You really are one great lady!!! I can't wait to see the new rabbit!!!

This is my only afternoon left this week, so I must get cleaned up and going. Errands and appointments to complete while it's still 'no jacket weather!'

Love and Light!

March Madness

Happy Monday to you all.

I didn't last too long last night. A very tiring day at the theatre. One of our chorus boys played his last show and there was a big to-do. We will miss him very much and I wish him the best in his future en devours.

There were a few other things going on as well. A certain coworker showed up late even for him. When you walk into the building and the show has already started, you are beyond late. No calls, no nothing. I'm more than a little perturbed that I didn't get a thank you or an I'm sorry. It resulted in a lot of extra work for everyone, myself included and I was not at a patient enough level to not let it bother me. I didn't become irritating until he failed to catch up. He was behind all day long, which resulted in even more work for me. Of course, I took the extra work upon myself, in the hopes we would catch up and get out of the building at a decent time. It was Sunday so there was dry cleaning to assemble and document, and the rest of the laundry and end of the week activities. The real kicker was when he looked at me at the end of the night and asked if I could haul the drying cleaning down stairs, as he had somewhere else he had to be. I was impressed, and it's only my friendship and love that kept me for completely coming unhinged. I just ignored it, and walked away. Believe me, I had some really CHOICE comments I could have made.

I hate it when people fail to meet my expectations.

The Amazing Race was kinda boring for me last night. I found myself rooting for Rob and Amber, which astounds me, but considering everyone else I think they are the best team at this point. Other teams amuse me more, but they are the best at working together. There was very little headgames being play last night, and that's all I really have to say about it. Not a very intriguing episode. I'll be sad to see David and Mary go, but that's the way of the race. I had hoped they would stay in it a bit longer, but alas, alack.

I'm powerfully hungry, so I'm going to the corner for breakfast. I'm up super early today and don't have anything to do until I either get an email from my friend in Indy who needs additional fabric purchased for his dance concert, or it's time for lunch with Scott. So my morning is mine, and I'm going to have breakfast and wait for the rest of the world to wake up. I have phone calls to make and business to do on this day off.

It's going to be a busy week. I'm doing two extra work calls this week, which effectively takes away any afternoon to myself this week except for today. I need to get organized and set up for the rest of the week...

Just a quick morning check in. Hope all is well...

Love and Light.

Is there anyone out there who wants to finance a long overdue European Education?

I can't possibly do Italy in a mere 10 days, and I can't afford any more than that.

Let's be clear here on this European Education. I'm long overdue for mine. The more I think about it (and I've been thinking about it for 15 years), the more involved it becomes. So many places to see and adventures to have. Flips his hand, I grow weary of NYC Adventures. It's past time I have a Daddy Or Granny and Go Global.

I am tired of this forest. Imp needs a new stomping ground.

Ohhhh, that Mega Millions jackpot just keeps growing and growing, and I've been planning on how to spend it for the last 10 days!!!

Favors,Rest, Relax, Work, and Meanders

I accepted a project last night at the show. Actually, I would call it a favor for one of my special people. It's a technology/media project, which I am fully capable of doing. It shouldn't have taken too long to achieve either, but alas-alack, mine computer and various drives were being temperamental last night. I finally got the project completed, and high quality work at that, but the project that should have only taken about 1/2 hour ended up taking about 4, with much sailor/farmer language and huffing. Roo actually looked at me around 2AM and clearly communicated to me, "Daddy, you are seriously freaking my sister out; One of you needs to take a pill."

At that point, I was beginning to calm down. My technology was functioning in the manner I wished it too; I was no longer swearing and threatening bodily harm to my hardware and softwear, and was merely waiting for it to do its job. It required attending the computer, but not active instruction/interaction, Once I got it running right. Unfortunately, I still had the 1/2 hour of work to do. So I just opened my book to keep me awake and would attend the bloody computer when it would beep at me. Meanwhile my head was reeling from a two show day, and all I wanted to do was go to bed. But I HAD to finish the project once I got it running, or I would have to tie up the computer today with it.

Successful Finish! I'm ready to deliver the final product this evening, and I'm able to use the computer for 'other' things this afternoon. It dawned on me this afternoon that it was March already and perhaps I should pay some bills...

I thank the higher powers that be. In spite of being up far later than I intended last night, I got a decent nights rest. There was NO bloody hammering going on in the vicinity this morning, and I slept in. REALLY slept in. I rolled over at 8:15, realized it was quiet, took a trip to the bathroom, fed the cats, and collapsed back on the bed. The next thing I knew it was 12:30. I finally got a decent nights/days sleep up in here. Very happy about that, and I've had a very relaxing afternoon of paying bills and house upkeep. I've promised the girls some uninterrupted brushin's later too, to which they are beginning to call for.

D and I had a good time between shows yesterday, dining at Whym. I had a scrumptious pork tenderloin with caramelized onions and figs. She was hedging between the chicken pot pie and the mahi mahi. She was a little disappointed in the chicken pot pie, but I believed the chocolate cake made up for it later... A very nice place, and I'll be going back at some point to sample more things on the menu. We were having such a relaxing meal that it slipped our minds we had to go back to work, and suddenly realized we were going to be a few minutes late in getting back. So we paid the bill and scampered back to the theatre. I'm becoming positively addicted to having a nice sitdown meal on two show days, and I'm completely OK with that!!

The extra work will commence tomorrow. I received a phone call yesterday asking me to work tomorrow and I accepted. It was from an unsolicited source, but I've worked for them before; I just didn't stop by and tell these particular people I was looking for extra shifts. Word travels fast around here at times. The extra money is going to come in handy, having just returned from vacation, and hopefully will continue as I have several expensive idea's/plans/wants/needs. Moving, my Italian vacation, et. Al.

I'm overdue for a trip to the drugstore. I'm out of bodywash (PHEW!) and a few other personals. I left yesterday morning in plenty of time to take care of these various errands, but I spent 40 minutes waiting in line at the post office, and that completely whacked my schedule. I was in the head of the line, only 2 people were in front of me, and I was too vested to just walk away. After I got out of the post office I barely had time to make it to work with breakfast. And of course, dinner with D ran long, and by the end of the night I was thinking about the project and not about body odor. So it's time to throw on a hat and scamper around the corner ... Hopefully I can get out of the door without another show down with Bast. She is still sitting in front of the door and refusing to be moved whenever it looks like I'm about to leave the house.

Speaking of Bast, I was doing a little rearranging this afternoon in the bed room, and I accidentally put the suitcase in the living room so I would have room to move things in the bedroom. Moments after I did that, I hear a crash and the sound of claws in a frenzy. I opened the bedroom door to discover that Bast had knocked the suitcase over and was attempting to rip it to shreds. She didn't stop when I opened the door either, she was too firmly absorbed in her mission. I started laughing when I saw Roo on her perch, acting as nonchalant as could be. A clear sign she had been shouting encouragement a moment before, but still sulking that she didn't get to it first..

Ok, I have to get going or I'm not doing to finish up my own honey-do list for this week. And since this is the only afternoon to myself this week, I must get busy. I have to return home with enough time left to worship my girls or the next mauling may be Me and not some tattered luggage.

Love and Light!
