Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you, one and all. Many blessings upon you for the upcoming year.

Haven't posted in a while as it's been insane in our fair city. An estimated 45 million people have traversed through our city for the holidays (that on top of the normal 18 million daily). It is very apparent that we are filled to capacity, it has been taking me an extra 15 minutes to get (walk) to work the last week. Pure Volume. Crazy. It will all peak tomorrow night in Times Square with the dropping of the ball. I'm looking forward to it, and to people returning home, and our city getting back to normal. One of the drawbacks of living in midtown.,besides the noise, is the New Years congestion.

I had a Great Christmas. Scott prepared a great meal, it was very casual and relaxed, and the most enjoyable Christmas I've had in years. Thanks boo.

Gearing up for New Years Eve. We will be celebrating low key again this year. Dinner and drinks, and company. Scott's brother Dave arrived yesterday (for good) and Scott is beside himself with glee. He has finally got his brother living in NYC. Both the boys are here now, if I was still drinking, my liver would be screaming for mercy! hehehe Of course, it's great to have David here (although I'm still ticked off that I didn't manage to get my sister and David married). :-) Anyhow, it will be great to have David here and part of the group, he's a great guy and we have always had a grand time when he was visiting.

Nothing new to report here; just finishing up the old and gearing up for the new, attempting to get a few new systems in place to make life easier in the new year.

Resolutions? Now we all know I don't like resolutions and rarely make them. We should all try to be better people every day, not just because it's a new year. That said, 2007 will be the year I quit smoking (i have all year to make this happen, right?!)

Several people have asked so here's your general announcement. I don't know what's happening with the gig in LA. I highly doubt the tight producers are going to accept my bid and pay me what I've asked for. It's getting later and later and time is running out for me to do what I need to do should I actually get the salary I submitted. So I've changed gears and actually started planning my February vacation.

I've settled down at work a bit and am no longer allowing the Machine to get to me. I'm more amused by it all, but we have yet another large turnover happening in the next couple of weeks and they seem bent on trying my patience. Try away I say, I'm bigger than you and I will remain so...

BRILLIANT! FANTASTIC! Worth the Wait! It's Everything I wanted it to be and more. I can't remember the last time I had such an enjoyable evening at a movie theatre.


It's exciting on so many levels. I've been Wild about Jennifer Hudson since the first time I heard her sing on that Idol show. Her rendition of Circle of Life prompted me to actually pick up the phone and call and place my first vote ever (in three years) of the Idol competition. That just happened to be the evening vote that disqualified Jennifer from the competition, and marks the END of my watching said TV show. Regardless, I've followed Jennifer's every press article since that time, and have been eagerly awaiting her next step in the business. Dreamgirls IS that vehicle she (and we) have been waiting for. I hope she is truly ready to be a Star, there isn't going to be Anyone in the US who hasn't heard the Name Jennifer Hudson in the next few months. There are Fantastic award winning performances going on all around her, and yet, Like Ms. Holiday did, she set herself apart, and easily Walked away with the film.

Jennifer is truly blessed and so are we, that she shares that incredible instrument with us. That girl can SAANG!! (And ANYONE who knows me, knows that I have an absolute Passion for Bitches who can Wail...) I've said it before and I'll say it again: Ms Dion, you had best watch your back, cause there is a new girl in town...

I had my dream posse with me for the evenings event. Scott and Becki and I attended the show together last night. The whole evening was electric, and the vibe in the auditorium was totally wild. People cheering and applauding at the end of numbers and scenes. They totally have a huge and worthy hit on their hands. I'm thankful that I live in this city and got the chance to see it first too. hehehe

Becki made it off to the airport for her return flight home this morning. We had a great visit, and it was so nice to be able to have A/B time together again (without any husbands or children about). She got a very good A tour of NYC while she was here, seeing Broadway shows and tours, a film pre-screening event, and touring/shopping in the garment district. I was applauded for my event planning skills, and rightfully so. I have done more things in the last 4 days than I have done in the last 4 months.

Looking forward to this final week before Christmas. I have another batch of things to get wrapped up, and the final three gifts to order online.

When it goes into National release on Christmas, go and see Dreamgirls. I laughed, I cried, It was much better than Cats!

Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays to you all, where ever you may be and however you may celebrate and honor this time of year.

Things go well here in the Big Apple. I'm almost ready for my company to visit. All of the major home repairs and housekeeping has been completed. The various piles of stuff around the apartment have been reduced and consolidated, as I completed yet another purge this week. There are no longer piles of books on the floor and every bookcase is filled to the brim. The personal wardrobe change-over has been accomplished from summer to winter, and the 2 coats that needed to be cleaned have been dropped off.

I still have the desk to sort/clear/clean/file. I had started the process yesterday morning before work but evidently Roo didn't approve of my system. I arrived home to find that she had emptied all the slots of my organizers and rearranged everything by pushing it onto the floor, where she could "file' it where she thought it should be: under the desk, couch, tv stand. She was quite industrious, as I found the cell phone bill and credit card statement in the bathtub.

I'm looking forward to my 'short' week at work, as I'm off on Sunday. Unfortunately for me, they just finished putting in the changes to the show on Friday of last week and that means I have to update/redo my show notes and paperwork. Things are beginning to settle, but it's foolish to waste time writing notes when things are still changing. I hope whoever gets the pleasure of doing my job on Sunday gets it right. I'm hoping that I don't have to spend all day Saturday training someone. I haven't heard, but simply to put my own mind at ease I need to have the notes done.

It's now 9:30 and I can safely leave the house and get a few errands done. I Must go to the Market today.

After 100 weeks as the top grossing Broadway show, we have been dethroned, by the Grinch of all things. It makes me laugh. At least the producers can rest easy that the top slot was in fact taken by yet another Green character.

I'm a smidge behind on posting. At the moment I'm also a smidge behind on getting ready for work, so this will be brief(ish). :-)

Yesterday was World AIDS day. Now, I'm not going to cram a bunch of info down your throats. I'm just stating the fact. I'm not going to mention the Presidents comments he made yesterday either. I'm just noting that I heard them, and as usual, he amuses me.

I recieved a few phone calls last night after the show and chatted with some people that I haven't talked to in what seems to be ages. Requesting that I visit soon. The whole reason of the call was to wish me a Happy Birthday. I got the song sung to me 3 times, and once was in Spanish. It moved me, alot. The people I was talking too were all old roommates of mine and it made me realize how much I missed them.

Yes, it's my birthday. For the first time in years I am working on my birthday. I usually take the day off (it is MY birthday after all). This year I postponed the day off a bit, two weeks in fact, so that I can spend a day with The Becki when she comes to visit. I'm afraid I don't have much exciting planned for the event this year, working two shows today and early daywork and show tomorrow leaves little time for celebration on the actual day, but I am having a great dinner with friends on Sunday night following the show. I'm even going to be leaving my typical 'safety' zone of 15 blocks from my house. hehehe.

Scott's Mom arrives today for a weekend visit, providing she get's out of St. Louis airport. Evidently there is snow and winter storm warning/emergancies. I can hardly relate to it. My friends on the phone were teasing me last night about the snow, and I asked them what the hell they were talking about. It was a humid and balmy 70 degrees here in NYC yesterday. We had strong winds, but no snow (although it is forecast for Monday). It really cooled off last night, dropping down into the 40's. But I'm taking it as a gift from Mother Nature. One last day of summer, in December.

I'm going to take a brief moment and grumble about this new beta blogger. Since I 'upgraded' every day I log in, things are different. Today for example, I'm no longer given the option to post pictures. So be it, but I fail to see the improvement.
